My Approach

At Baobab Psychology & Wellness, therapy is a collaborative journey built on trust, compassion, and emotional safety. I believe healing begins within the context of a therapeutic relationship where you feel seen, understood, and accepted. Drawing from attachment theory, neurobiology, trauma-informed care, and other evidence-based approaches, I tailor therapy to your unique experiences, goals, and pace.

My approach blends curiosity, warmth, and gentle guidance to help you reconnect with your inner wisdom, strengthen resilience, and move toward a life that feels more authentic, meaningful, and aligned with your values. Like the baobab tree, I believe resilience grows by developing strong roots, cultivating self-awareness, and learning to adapt without losing yourself. Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, burnout, relationship challenges, life transitions, or searching for greater purpose, my hope is to support you in moving beyond survival toward lasting healing, deeper connection, and a life of greater intention and fulfilment.

AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH TO THERAPY

Therapeutic Modalities

No two people are the same, so therapy shouldn't be either. My approach is integrative, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities and tailoring them to your unique needs, goals, experiences, and stage of life. Together, we'll find an approach that feels supportive, practical, and effective, creating a path toward healing, resilience, and lasting change.

Attachment-Based Therapy

Attachment-Based Therapy explores how early relationships shape the way we see ourselves, connect with others, and respond to life's challenges. By understanding these patterns with compassion and curiosity, we can heal relational wounds, strengthen emotional regulation, and develop more secure, fulfilling relationships. The therapeutic relationship itself becomes a safe foundation for growth.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

DBT helps people manage intense emotions, cope with stress, improve relationships, and respond more effectively to life's challenges. It teaches practical skills in mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, and can be especially beneficial for those experiencing emotional dysregulation, self-harm, or suicidal thoughts.

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

ERP is considered one of the most effective treatments for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). It involves gradually facing feared situations while resisting compulsions, helping reduce anxiety and break the cycle that maintains OCD.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS explores the different "parts" of ourselves and our compassionate core Self. By approaching every part with curiosity and acceptance, therapy helps heal emotional wounds, build self-awareness, and create greater inner harmony.

Play Therapy

Play Therapy allows children to express emotions and process experiences through play, creativity, and connection. It helps build emotional awareness, coping skills, confidence, and resilience in a developmentally appropriate way.

Somatic Therapy

Somatic therapies are body-based approach that helps regulate the nervous system by increasing awareness of physical sensations, reducing stress and trauma, and restoring a greater sense of safety and resilience.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

CBT is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps identify and change unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour. Together, we explore the connection between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours while developing practical strategies to manage concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, panic, phobias, and obsessive-compulsive behaviours.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT is an attachment-based approach that helps individuals and couples better understand emotions, improve communication, and strengthen emotional bonds, creating more secure and connected relationships.

Gottman Method Couples Therapy

The Gottman Method is a research-based approach that helps couples strengthen friendship, improve communication, manage conflict, and build lasting trust and connection.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy (MBT)

Mindfulness-Based Therapy develops present-moment awareness through practices such as grounding, breathwork, and body awareness, helping reduce reactivity and strengthen emotional regulation.

Positive Psychology

Positive Psychology focuses on strengths, resilience, purpose, gratitude, and wellbeing. Rather than concentrating only on difficulties, it helps you build on what's already working to create a more meaningful life.

Trauma-Informed Therapy

Trauma-Informed Therapy recognises the lasting impact difficult experiences can have on the mind and body. Grounded in safety, trust, collaboration, and empowerment, it creates a compassionate space where healing can unfold at your own pace.

Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)

Compassion-Focused Therapy helps cultivate a kinder relationship with yourself. It is particularly helpful for self-criticism, shame, perfectionism, and feelings of not being "good enough," fostering greater self-acceptance and emotional resilience.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a structured evidence-based therapy that helps the brain process distressing or traumatic memories with bilateral stimulation so they become less emotionally charged and overwhelming. When doing EMDR with children, child-friendly tools such as puppets, coloring, and sand tray can be used  so it is more comfortable and engaging for them.

Holistic Therapy

Holistic Therapy views wellbeing through the connection of mind, body, and spirit. It integrates traditional talk therapy with approaches such as mindfulness, breathwork, and somatic techniques to support whole-person healing.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy is a collaborative approach grounded in empathy, authenticity, and unconditional acceptance. It provides a safe space to deepen self-understanding, strengthen self-trust, and move toward meaningful change.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Solution-Focused Therapy is a strengths-based, goal-oriented approach that builds on existing resources and focuses on practical steps toward the future you want.
